EMPLOYMENT

Lecturing, consultation, and research on the topics of quilts and costumes. - Curator of Textiles and Costumes, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. 1978–May 1, 2017.
Duties included responsibility for Colonial Williamsburg’s collections of antique quilts, costumes, coverlets, and textiles displayed in the historic houses, the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum. Major projects included curating the exhibition “Language of Clothing,” held at the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum from October 2002 through February 15, 2004 and curating the exhibition “Printed Fashions,” March 25, 2017 through present. Produced numerous line drawings of quilt patterns using Computer Assisted Design technology to reveal difficult-to-see patterns in bed quilts and clothing. - Associate Curator and later Curator of Textiles, Valentine Museum, Richmond, Virginia. 1972–1978.
